Our Story
Sarah has had her hands in the dirt since she was knee high to a grasshopper. From planting trees with her mother to helping her grandfather tend their backyard vegetable garden starting at a very young age, she has always felt a strong connection to nature’s flora & fauna. In the country life of East Texas in her early years, Sarah could often be found performing bee catch & release using a jar of wildflowers or setting box traps to play with wild rabbits.
Sarah has a passion for nurturing and providing for our precious pollinators through thoughtful design, plant selection and practices as well as recycling and composting in the garden. The health of our planet is of utmost importance! Sarah uses natural and/or organic gardening methods whenever possible and only uses hand tools or electric power equipment (when necessary & accessible). She enjoys sharing her deep love for nature and teaching people how to be successful plant parents and vegetable gardeners. Sarah is specially trained in plant diagnostics and treatment and volunteered for the aquaponics & vertical gardening project at The Urban Farm in Denver, Colorado.
Sarah’s whimsical artistic style is the that of fairies, gnomes and elves, inspired by and often created with nature itself. You can feel her childlike spirit in every living art arrangement, floral headband and piece of jewelry she makes. She has found a new love in assemblage art as a way to honor her deep connection to nature. Using foraged and naturally processed Arkansas quartz, bones, shells, skins, feathers, insects, mosses and other natural materials as well as recycled and/or repurposed items, each piece is truly unique and thoughtfully made.
Sarah has always been a hands on student and has had years of specialized training in multiple garden centers (both Colorado and Arkansas), personal trials and tribulations in the garden as well as Arkansas master gardener training. The main reason for moving form Colorado to Arkansas was to start a small gardening business and enjoy the almost year round gardening we are blessed to have here in The Natural State. Hot Springs and Lake Ouachita had been calling her back since she first visited the area in the early 80’s with her mother and grandparents as well as several other trips to the area since. She moved to Hot Springs in September 2019.
A short year later, the ongoing COVID pandemic fueled the fire and desire to finally start her gardening business and Let It Bee Garden & Designs came into fruition in late 2020. Like the gardens she tends, Sarah is growing more lush with knowledge with each passing season and continues to learn, hone her crafts while continuing to educate on the importance of protecting our pollinators and our Mother Earth.
